FENTON FLYER FOTOS ~ July-August '10 This page is designed to complement The Fenton Flyer.  The Fenton Flyer is printed in black and white, with color highlights on several pages, but without full color photos.  We hope the members of the NFGS enjoy viewing the photos in color, and the visitors to the NFGS website enjoy them and are curious to learn more about the articles they represent.  To learn more about the NFGS or to join, please visit the Membership page by clicking on the title in the panel on the left or on the bottom of this page.                     Convention souvenir has significance for NFGS.........................By Sharon Fenner The convention souvenir for the 20th year of the NFGS is special to our club in many ways.  First, it is our club emblem, the 5197 Happiness Bird.  Second, it is decorated with the NFGS exclusive "Patches" design.  This is the ninth Burmese "Patches" animal offered to NFGS members.  Check the patches on the back of the bird!                         Convention raffle features great OOAKs .......................................By Doug McIntosh  The raffle for the NFGS 20th anniversary convention features three outstanding one-of-a-kind pieces.  First prize - Ruby cased 12 inch vase with a swirl design, created by Mastercraftsman Dave Fetty.  This vase makes a statement!! Second prize - Key Lime Happiness Bird on the font, decorated by Robin Spindler.  Our feathered friend is highlighted with gold and delicate flowers.  A true One-Of-A-Kind!!  Third prize - Emerald Green Stretch glass whimsy basket with a lily crimp and twisted handle.  It is an awesome example of Fenton hot-metal artisrty!! Smith   At first this looked like a nondescript crystal creamer, but the owner or previous owner must have done some homework.  On the bottom was a piece of tape with the word "Fenton" on it.  Then it hit me.  This little hexagonal creamer and its mate are pictured in cameo opalescent in a couple of books on early Fenton glass and can be seen in the Fenton Museum.  Where is the sugar and what other colors does it exist in?                 Get acquainted with Tony Burgess, the new Fenton Flyer editor................ His name is Anthony "Tony" Burgess, and he will be taking over as editor of the Fenton Flyer with the upcoming post-convention issue.  Tony will be attending his first convention and invites members to introduce themselves, say "hi", and chat a bit.

Keeping Your Eyes Open ..................... By John Walk   Two rare finds:  a Ruby Overlay Silver Crest creamer and a New World Ring Optic creamer. This was intended to be a special glass offering at an NFGS convention in the early 1990's, but because of the difficulty in making it, only one was produced.
